Nothing brings a family together like a Cajun Seafood Boil! We put our own spin on a traditional seafood boil so that you can make a smaller portion for your own family on a busy weeknight. This faster method of making a seafood boil uses a grill and foil packs. In addition, this method also makes reheating the seafood boil later without making it rubbery. Try this version and let me know what you think! We love cooking with Old Bay seasoning and shrimp.

Cajun Seafood Boil: Seafood Steamer Packs

Cajun Seafood Boil

To get started, gather your ingredients. You will need: 

  • 1 1/2 lb shrimp, raw, no tails
  • 2 lb crawfish, shelled (you just want the crawfish tail meat)
  • 1 pack Andouille sausage, chopped
  • 5-6 medium red potatoes, chopped into 1-inch cubes
  • 5 ears of corn, shucked and chopped
  • 8 tbsp butter
  • 8 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 lemons, sliced
  • 4 tsp Salt
  • 4 tsp Pepper
  • 6 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 8 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 6 tsp Parsley

Preheat your grill to 450 degrees. Lay your foil on your counter and start by making the foil packs for this recipe. Add 1/4 of the following ingredients: shrimp, crawfish, potatoes, and corn. Drizzle with two tablespoons of olive oil. Add salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

Add 1/4 of the sausage and two tablespoons of butter. Sprinkle with two teaspoons of Old Bay and a teaspoon of parsley. Top with lemon slices. Fold the foil over and fold sides to create your pack.

Repeat this process for your other three packs. Cook directly on the grill, close to the heat, for 10-15 minutes until shrimp are cooked through and potatoes are tender. Once finished, let the packs rest for 2 minutes, then drain the excess juice from the pack. Enjoy!

Cajun Seafood Steamer: Seafood Boil Recipe

A delicious way to have a seafood boil! This recipe uses foil packs and you grill them for a tasty dinner idea! It's a seafood steamer with a southern twist.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb shrimp, raw, no tails
  • 2 lb crawfish, shelled (you just want the crawfish tail meat)
  • 1 pack Andouille sausage, chopped
  • 5-6 medium red potatoes, chopped into 1-inch cubes
  • 5 ears of corn, shucked and chopped
  • 8 tbsp butter
  • 8 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 lemons, sliced
  • 4 tsp Salt
  • 4 tsp Pepper
  • 6 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 8 tsp Old Bay seasoning

Instructions

To assemble a pack:

  1. Preheat your grill to 450 degrees. Lay foil onto counter or surface.
  2. Add 1/4 of the following ingredients: shrimp, crawfish, potatoes and corn.

  4. Add 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp pepper, and 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder.
  5. Toss all of the ingredients by hand. Add 1/4 of the sausage, and 2 tbsp butter.
  6. Sprinkle with 2 tsp old bay and 1 1/2 tsp parsley.
  7. Top with 3-4 lemon slices.
  8. Fold foil over and fold sides over to create your pack.
  9. Repeat this process for the 3 other packs.
  10. Cook directly on the grill, close to the heat, for 10-15 minutes until shrimp are cooked through and potatoes are tender.
  11. Once finished, let the packs rest for 2 minutes, then drain the excess juice from the pack.
  12. Enjoy!
