Ahi Tuna Ceviche & Cucumber Salad

My husband can be quite a creative chef. He loves to use fresh ingredients to create unique dishes to share. When we partnered with Mizkan to test out their variety of vinegar, we wanted to turn a family-favorite appetizer into something with an Japanese flair! Not only do we share a ceviche recipe for you to try, you can also make a cucumber salad to pair it with!

We love ceviche and with a few ingredient swaps, we were able to enjoy ahi tuna with the flavor of Mizkan vinegars and sauces. We headed out to Walmart to buy Mizkan Natural Rice Vinegar and Mizkan Mirin. These two will be the perfect flavor for your stir fry recipes, chicken dishes, or a ceviche like this one.

Try this ahi tuna ceviche for a deliciously easy appetizer!


  • 1 lb ahi tuna, sliced
  • 1 cucumber large, diced
  • 1 Serrano pepper, diced
  • 1 red onion small, sliced
  • 6-8 stalks of bok choy, chopped and used for garnish
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger minced
  • 1 tbsp cilantro chopped
  • 1/3 cup Mizkan vinegar
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • Salt to taste


    1. Prepare produce by washing and chopping.
    2. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. The tuna will cook with the lime juice and vinegar and be perfectly flavorful.

Want to add another dish to your dinner night? Make cucumber salad! It really is only five ingredients. 

  • 4 large cucumbers
  • 3/4 cup vinegar
  • 3 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp. sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp. Salt and pepper

Peel cucumbers and slice into thin strips. In a large bowl, mix cucumber, sesame seeds, salt, and pepper. Toss together. In a large mason jar or another airtight container, place salad and fill jar or container with vinegar and soy sauce. Seal jar. Marinate for 24 to 48 hours. The recipe makes four to six servings.
