Boozy Budget Gifts: RumChata Hot Cocoa

I’ve discovered RumChata, and I’m in love. It doesn’t take much for me to really appreciate a liquor, but this one stands out. I recently had a cocktail with RumChata in it, and I knew I needed to think of ways to incorporate this flavor into the holiday season. While I hope to share a few easy gift ideas and handmade items to surprise your friends and family, sometimes easy gifts for roommates or friends who appreciate a good DRINK are in order. I have two unique DIY gift ideas coming up for the holiday season, and here is the first one. It mixes Rum Chata and hot cocoa. How yummy does that sound?

RumChata Hot Cocoa

If you haven’t tried Rum Chata yet, it tastes a lot like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. It’sย a childhood favorite for many, and it blends really well with the homemade hot cocoa mix.ย I promise that you will LOVE it.

To assemble a sweet gift for someone who appreciates all the boozy things in life (and one that is totally budget-friendly!), here are the instructions for creating one on your own!

Rum Chata Hot Cocoa Gift Jar Ingredients

  • 5 C. dry powdered milk
  • 1 C. cocoa powder
  • 2 ยฝ C. powdered sugar
  • 1 C. powdered coffee creamer (regular flavor)
  • 2 tsp. of cornstarch (optional)

Other Materials 

  • 16 oz. mason jar
  • Bakers Twine
  • Mini RumChata bottles (you can find these at just about any local liquor store)
  • Andes mints (I added these to the top of the mix chopped up just for fun!)

Directions

  1. Add all ingredients to a large bowl and mix together and add to your mason jar.
  2. Use the baker’s twine to tie the mini bottle of Rum Chata around the mason jar.

Once your gift is assembled, you will need to include the directions either in the card or tie it to the jar. These are the instructions for AFTER you assemble the gift: Mix ยผ C. of hot cocoa mix to ยพ C. of warm milk and Rum Chata.

Ingredients

  • 5 C. dry powdered milk
  • 1 C. cocoa powder
  • 2 ยฝ C. powdered sugar
  • 1 C. powdered coffee creamer (regular flavor)
  • 2 tsp. of cornstarch (optional)
  • RumChata

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a large bowl and mix together to create a homemade hot cocoa mix.
  2. Mix ¼ C. of hot cocoa mix to ¾ C. of warm milk and a shot of Rum Chata.
