Plan Out Your Day With These Useful Tips
Do you ever feel like the days just get away from you? You have so many things to you and you plan to be as productive as possible, but things just get in your way, or do you feel like you only accomplish half of what you wanted to? These kinds of days can leave you feeling frustrated and deflated, but the problem may not be that you can't finish everything, the problem may be that you are tackling too much, and have unrealistic expectations of what you can get done with the set amount of hours in the day. One way that you can avoid this feeling is to plan out your day realistically, and not bite off more than you can chew. Here are some easy tips to follow that will help you complete your day and avoid feeling unaccomplished.

Put it Down on Paper
Spending a bit of time in the evening before bed and writing down your goals for the following day can help you to sleep better, and wake up ready to face the day. Rather than just writing down a to-do list, plan out your day by the hours, making sure that you are including time for a healthy breakfast to get you off on the right foot. Having a schedule ready for you in the morning will let you see what you have planned for the day, and allow you to really plot your course. If you plan your day and you can't fit tasks into your planner, then you know you won't be able to fit it into the day and you can do some reorganization. Having a physical plan for your day, with realistic times for tasks, will help you to avoid taking on too many activities in one day.
Coordinate Based on Business Hours
Checking the business hours of the locations you need to go, to and implementing them in your daily plan based on those hours will help you to avoid rushing and exasperation. If you need to go to the grocery store and the post office, check the post office hours before you plan it in your day. If you know the grocery store is open from 7 am to 11 pm but find that the post office has limited hours, then you will be able to get to the post office on time, rather than having to rush to it because you didn't realize it closed early. Knowing the hours of operation of the locations you are heading to will help you to avoid missing out on important tasks.
Don't Hit the Snooze Button
We all fall victim to the “five more minutes” feeling in the morning, especially on days when we have a lot to do. However those five more minutes can often turn into thirty minutes or even an hour, and then you will be behind on your daily plan before you even start. Making sure that you go to sleep early enough to rise with your alarm, and feel rested and refreshed is a great way to ensure that you won't fall behind on your daily plan.
Keep it Simple
While you may have a lot to do and want to get it all done in one day, realistically that's probably not going to happen. To get your to-do list down to a manageable size, choose three tasks a day, and focus on them. And choose three housekeeping tasks so that you are getting everything done inside and outside of the house. This might look like making sure the dishwasher is loaded, or making sure to do one load of laundry a day. Whatever your most pressing concern, make sure you do it before bed. Don't put too much pressure on yourself to get everything done all at once, because that will lead to unfinished jobs, and going back to your feelings of frustration.
By properly planning out your day, putting down realistic times for your tasks, and making sure that you are not biting off more than you can chew, you can approach each day prepared to complete the tasks you made for yourself the night before. You are only human, and no matter how efficient you think you may be, there are only 24 hours in the day. Don't set yourself up for failure by being unrealistic about what you can complete. Check business hours, avoid touching that snooze button, and give yourself three tasks a day to complete, nothing more. If you end up with extra time that's great! Use that for relation and self-care. Your to-do list will always be there, so take good care of yourself and you will find your days passing well simply by planning them out properly.
