Best Dog Treats

If your manโ€™s best friend is at all like my Buster boy, he or she gets pretty doggone stoked over just about any treat. Buster, an odd mix of Corgi and Pit bull who looks like you now think, struts over to the paw-printed treats jar on the kitchen counter after every walk to make sure he gets his usual dried biscuit reward.

After our first jaunt of the day, Buster gets a fish oil pill to help lube his old joints. Yes, he treats that as a treat as well. But appropriately higher up, in a cabinet above the treats jar rests another container. This is the good stuff, the level of treat that sends Buster pawing at the air after rising on those short back legs. We go by nicknames like โ€œstickโ€ or โ€œbig goodieโ€ and just the mention widens those already giant eyes and sends him bounding.

Lately, weโ€™ve been a bit more specific. โ€œPizzle?โ€ You should see him boogie. Bully for him, indeed.

The Puzzle of the Pizzle

Trudog, a Tampa-based company that stocks 100 percent American-produced products and takes great pride in producing natural, one-ingredient treats, has a plethora of dog rewards. But their Bully Sticks for dogs might just be the best natural dog treats out there in a deliciously competitive market.

Trudogโ€™s Bully Sticks are made solely of beef pizzle. Sit down for this part. Beef pizzle is the term for the penis of a bull and itโ€™s way more popular than you think. And even though there is, oddly, some human consumption because of its rich nutrient value, the bull penis probably doesnโ€™t sound super appetizing to you.

Then again, neither probably does roadkill, and our mutts would fight over that. Beef pizzle is steeped in protein, vitamins, and minerals. For the sake of dog chews, the beef pizzle is dried, stretched and cut into servings.

Not only does beef pizzle address dogsโ€™ base instincts while being packed with healthy things, but it can be easily chewed and digested (weโ€™ve probably all cleaned up white rawhide regurgitation episodes).

Trudog Bully Sticks

Trudogโ€™s Bully Sticks are as good as it gets. They are 100 percent natural, single-ingredient chews that contain no artificial additives, flavors or chemicals. They are pure protein sticks chockful of amino acids, which means they really work wonders on your dogโ€™s muscles, coat and skin.

Bull pizzleโ€”perhaps the best treats for puppies ever conjured โ€” is even good for your dogโ€™s teeth. I know, right? But the dried and leathery Bully Sticks really help scrape plaque and tarter off those oft-used teeth in your dog sports. And unlike nylon bones and a plethora of other solely man-made treats and natural chews like bones, antlers, horns, and hoovesโ€”all of which can break or splinter teeth โ€” Bully Sticks are totally safe for your dogโ€™s mouth and digestive tract.

You want to save Bully Sticks for more special occasions because your dog needs delightful distractions to help ease boredom. Bored dogs chew things besides treats, as we all know. And chewing occupies a dogโ€™s mind for quite some time, especially when chomping treats, like Bully Sticks, that last a good while.

Buster still loves his post-walk dog biscuits. And he gets excited to hear, โ€œBig goodie!โ€ But nothing draws the full-on excitement followed by the contentment of these two other words: โ€œPizzle!โ€ Not even close. No bull.
