Delicious Pairings for Your Cheese Board
One classic pairing for brie cheese is fruit. The sweetness of the fruit complements the creamy texture and mild flavor of the brie cheese. Some popular fruits to serve with brie cheese include apples, pears, grapes, and berries. Another great option is dried fruit, such as apricots or figs, which have a more intense flavor that pairs well with the mildness of brie cheese.
Another popular option for serving brie cheese is crackers or bread. This allows you to enjoy the cheese on its own or with a variety of toppings. Some people prefer to serve brie cheese with plain crackers or bread, while others like to add toppings such as honey, jam, or nuts. The possibilities are endless, and you can experiment with different combinations to find your perfect pairing.
Classic Pairings with Brie
Fresh Fruits
Brie cheese pairs exceptionally well with a variety of fresh fruits. The sweet and tangy flavors of fruits complement the mild and creamy taste of Brie. Some of the classic fruit pairings with Brie include sliced apples, pears, and grapes. The juicy and refreshing texture of these fruits contrast with the soft and velvety texture of Brie, creating a delightful flavor and texture combination.
Nuts and Seeds
Brie cheese also goes well with nuts and seeds. The crunchy texture and nutty flavor of nuts and seeds add a nice contrast to the creamy and buttery taste of Brie. Some of the popular nuts and seeds that pair well with Brie include almonds, walnuts, and pumpkin seeds. Toasted nuts and seeds provide an extra layer of flavor and texture to the pairing.
Charcuterie
Charcuterie boards are a perfect way to enjoy Brie cheese. The salty and savory flavors of cured meats complement the mild and creamy taste of Brie. Some of the classic charcuterie pairings with Brie include prosciutto, salami, and ham. The combination of Brie and charcuterie provides a perfect balance of flavors and textures that is sure to impress any guest.

Bread and Crackers for Brie
When it comes to serving brie, choosing the right bread or crackers can make all the difference. Here are some options to consider:
Artisan Breads
Artisan breads are a great option for serving with brie. They are typically made with high-quality ingredients and have a rustic, hearty texture that pairs well with the creamy, buttery flavor of brie. Some popular artisan breads to consider include:
- Baguette: A classic French bread with a crispy crust and soft, chewy interior. It's perfect for slicing and toasting before serving with brie.
- Sourdough: A tangy, slightly sour bread that pairs well with the rich flavor of brie. It's also great for toasting or grilling.
- Ciabatta: An Italian bread with a soft, chewy texture and large air pockets. It's great for making sandwiches with brie or for serving alongside a cheese board.
Flavored Crackers
If you prefer crackers over bread, there are plenty of options to choose from. Flavored crackers can add an extra layer of flavor to your brie and make for a more interesting pairing. Here are some ideas:
- Rosemary crackers: These crackers have a subtle herbal flavor that complements the earthy, nutty flavor of brie.
- Olive oil crackers: Made with high-quality olive oil, these crackers have a rich, buttery flavor that pairs well with brie.
- Black pepper crackers: The spicy kick of black pepper can help cut through the richness of brie and add some extra flavor.
No matter what you choose, be sure to serve your bread or crackers alongside some fresh fruit, nuts, or honey to round out the flavors and textures of your brie plate.

Condiments and Toppings
Sweet Spreads
Brie cheese pairs well with a variety of sweet spreads. One classic option is honey, which adds a touch of sweetness and complements the mild flavor of the cheese. Fruit preserves, such as fig or raspberry, can also be used as a topping. These spreads add a burst of fruity flavor and a slightly tart taste, which balances the creamy texture of the Brie. For a more unique option, try a fruit chutney, which combines sweet and savory flavors and can add some spice to the cheese.
Savory Jams
Savory jams, such as onion or tomato jam, can also be paired with Brie cheese. These jams add a touch of sweetness and a savory flavor that complements the mild taste of the cheese. Another option is to use a spicy pepper jelly, which adds a kick of heat to the cheese and can be a great contrast to the creamy texture. Other savory options include garlic spread or pesto, which add a burst of flavor and can be used as a dip or spread for the cheese.
When serving Brie cheese, it's important to have a variety of condiments and toppings available to complement its mild flavor. Sweet spreads and savory jams are just a few options that can be used to add some extra flavor and texture to this classic cheese.
Wine and Beverage Pairings
White Wines
Brie pairs well with a wide range of white wines. A light and crisp Sauvignon Blanc can complement the cheese's tanginess, while a Chardonnay with a buttery finish can enhance the creaminess of the cheese. If you prefer a sweeter wine, a Riesling or Moscato can balance out the saltiness of the cheese.
Red Wines
Brie can also be paired with some red wines. A Pinot Noir with its fruity and earthy notes can complement the cheese's mild flavor. A Cabernet Sauvignon with its bold and tannic structure can balance out the cheese's creaminess. However, it is important to note that some red wines can overpower the subtle flavors of Brie.
Non-Alcoholic Options
If you prefer non-alcoholic options, there are still plenty of beverages that can complement Brie. A sparkling water with a hint of lemon or lime can refresh your palate between bites. A cup of tea, especially Earl Grey or Darjeeling, can bring out the cheese's nutty and earthy flavors. A glass of apple cider can also complement the cheese's sweetness.
Remember to experiment with different wine and beverage pairings to find what works best for your taste buds.
