I had the opportunity to tour a new sculpture garden at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. Whenever I visit a new city, there are a few things I like to do. I always look for local breweries and baseball games, but anything free is on my radar too. I like to support free local transit or free museums. The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts is a gem located at 1 Museum Drive, and it features several art collections including 19th and 20th-century American paintings and sculpture along with Southern regional art.
There’s a children’s area which features an imaginative play area and activities to stimulate young artistic minds.
The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts is located in the Wynton M. Blount Cultural Park. The main entrance to the park is on Vaughn Road, approximately one mile east of Eastern Boulevard. On entering the park, the Museum can be seen at the right, situated beyond the lake.
As for The John and Joyce Caddell Sculpture Garden, it is on view through spring 2020.
As the Museum celebrates almost 30 years in the Blount Cultural Park, we look forward to our future. Art in the Garden: The Inaugural Sculpture Garden Installation in the John and Joyce Caddell Sculpture Garden expands over three acres. Transformed by season, time of day, and even weather, the Garden provides an ever-changing and contemplative haven to view works of art and to enjoy the natural beauty of our Park.
Admission to the Museum is free, and parking is readily available. For a complete list of upcoming programs and events, please visit our calendar.
