ZooTampa at Lowry Park: Experience Roaring Springs!

Thanks to Coca-Cola Florida and ZooTampa for hosing us to experience the new water adventure Roaring Springs!

ZooTampa
The last time I went to the ZooTampa it had a different name, and I wasn’t yet a mother. Now, six years later, I was able to bring my son to a place that I spent my childhood going to. It has certainly changed, yet my favorite parts remain the same. With an upgraded children’s area, food options, and a new attraction (Roaring Springs), I am glad this remains a staple for the Tampa Bay community.

Get ready to splash! This was such a fun way to cool off after walking around the zoo all day, and it made for amazing photos.

The petting zoo. It’s a classic for good reason.

The primate area. There were several babies to see up close! We spent several minutes in different exhibits watching the families play together.

Walk through the Florida exhibit for beautiful wildlife that you may not have a chance to see every day. These black bears were so sweet splashing in the water!

Ride the safari in Africa. Our wait time was about 15 to 20 minutes, but I found it to be worth it. The line queue was shaded, and I wanted to make sure that we experienced this early in the day before the zoo got busier.

See giraffes, zebras, and elephants up close. You can see views of these animals both on the safari and on foot as you walk through the exhibits.

I made a video compiling the best parts of our day. It includes Roaring Springs again as well, but also our bird encounter! Keep waiting at the 3:00 minute mark to see all the fun.

Eat at Joe’s Diner. Located near Roaring Springs, this food truck had the best afternoon snacks. Stop in for lunch or a cold drink. We ordered almost everything on the menu (to be fair, we were four hungry travelers!). We tried the boardwalk fries, corn dogs, conch fritters, and the fish tacos where had white fish and cilantro slaw. Paired with fresh squeezed orange juice, and everything was delicious.

Service was fast and friendly, and passing guests commented on how good our food smelled. This was definitely an upgrade from what I remember. I loved it!

This is going to be included in our summer calendar rotation for sure. We loved the location (close to home) and the prices of everything. It was a hot summer day when we went, but as you can see, there are lots of opportunities to cool down, enjoy the shade, and splash! Not only is there Roaring Springs, but the children’s area has an additional splash pad plus there are fountains in the front.

Don’t Forget:

  • Sunscreen
  • A change of clothes if you want to get wet
  • Wear water shoes
  • Your camera! 😉
