5 Money Saving Travel Tips

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of IHG Rewards Club. All opinions are 100% mine.

I am lucky that I live in Florida so our tropical destinations are a short flight or cruise trip away! However, there are a few tips and tricks I’ve learned when it comes to traveling within our own state that I want to share with you!

Five Travel Tips

1. Use your rewards. If you know that you will travel, even infrequently, sign up for a rewards program! I just recently signed up forย shareforever.ihg.com!ย IHGยฎ is a global company with 9 hotel brands, over 4,800 hotels and nearly 674,000 rooms in nearly 100 countries around the world. They pride themselves in being a leader of hospitality and their new rewards promotion is just another display of their practiced guest welcoming and generosity.

IHGโ€™s aim is to build lifetime relationships with their guests and ensure they are offering their valued members fantastic experiences they can share with their family and friends. The IHGยฎ Rewards Club โ€œShare Foreverโ€ Summer Promotion allows members to earn points for their stay as well as share additional points with those that matter most!

Here is how it works:

Earn 500 Points for your next IHG hotel stay from May 1, 2015 โ€“ September 2, 2015
Earn another 500 points for that same hotel stay to share with another member! (Or keep the points for yourself!)
Earn from 68,500 to 115,500 โ€œShare Foreverโ€ bonus points plus a maximum 58,500 bonus points to share, or keep.

2. Travel in the off season. As someone who lives in a very busy tourist area, I do know that things are WAY more expensive in our season. For us, October through about Easter is very busy. We know that if we want to do a “staycation” or stay a night in a hotel on the beach to do so before this time of year!

3. Book early (or late). It doesn’t hurt to research your options both ahead of time and last minute. You never know what you will find!

4. Shop around. Excursions can be pricey when you’re traveling, so shop around and see what is out there. Whenever we have gone on a vacation, we have opted to find our own plans and activities.

5. Go off the grid. Not entirely – just a little bit! When we have cruised or gone on vacation, we loved to walk around to find our own path for the day! Sometimes cruise ports encourage you to stay within its walls, but I loved exploring the islands when we have gone. There was so much to see!
