4 Simple Ways to Get Your Life More Organized

Organizational Books

Everyone has dreams about the great things they would like to achieve in their lives if they could. But of course, it’s important to be proactive if there’s any particular dream you’re looking to realize, or lifestyle you are eager to experience – and, to a large degree, that means it’s essential to get organized.

When your life is too haphazard and unstructured, it’s very difficult – and maybe impossible – to actually maneuver things in the way they need to be maneuvered, in order to get you where you want to be and to ensure that you get the most out of your life as a whole.

If you feel like your life needs to be a bit more organized, therefore, here are a few tips and suggestions that might be useful.

Focus on smart processes, rather than outcomes

Being too “outcome-focused” can be a negative thing, for a variety of different reasons. For one thing, you do not have full control over the outcomes of any situations you face in your life, but you do have more or less complete control over the actions, processes, and routines you engage in along the way.

If you focus too much on outcomes, therefore – such as by being far too fixated on your goals themselves and on “where you want to be,” as opposed to focusing on the steps to take along the way to get you there – you can easily end up in a very disorganized situation, where your day-to-day actions end up being haphazard and frantic, based on what you feel the most promising route to your goal is that day, or based on where your mind is after the latest article you’ve read.

When you focus on smart processes – in the form of everyday habits – you can be far more structured and organized, while also reducing a lot of the stress that comes with always being in a goal-driven state of mind.

It’s just that you will be managing and structuring your particular habits, rather than your two-year plans, and so on.

You might, for example, establish a habit where you will do 25 minutes of writing first thing in the morning as soon as you get out of bed, or half an hour of yoga in the evening, before your nightly shower.

Use tools to make as much of the process “automatic” as possible

There are a lot of tools and software programs out there that can work wonders in terms of making various processes and routines in your everyday life as “automatic” as possible.

Suffice to say, once processes are automated, they will be easier to maintain and manage in a structured and focused way, while simultaneously being less of a drain on your attention, energy, and time.

In your work, Document Management Software may help you to properly create, structure, and catalog your essential files as smoothly as possible, with as little stress and complexity as possible – meaning that the overall process will be much easier to keep organized.

By the same token, using a good budgeting tool – such as Budget with Buckets – can make the often-arduous process of organizing and staying on top of your finances much more straightforward.

Strive for a greater degree of simplicity in your life overall – it will make it easier to stay on top of things

It’s certainly possible to complicate your life to a point where there are so many different “moving parts” at play at any given time, that actually being able to organize things and stay on top of your various duties and obligations can come to seem like a superhuman mission.

This is perhaps more likely to be the case today than ever before, thanks in large part to the vast number of different entertainment options available to us now, in addition to the variety of subscription-based tools, services, and platforms that many of us now have to juggle on an everyday basis.

When you strive for a greater degree of simplicity in your life overall, it may well give you a much-needed respite and an opportunity to breathe. But, it is very likely that it will also make things much easier to manage and organize.

Use “accountability contracts” to create external pressure to stay in line

It’s important to realize that many of the temptations and distractions that we are faced with on a day-to-day basis have been specially formulated and designed in order to be as addictive as possible and to circumvent our willpower.

For that reason, it’s often useful to get a bit of “outside help” in, when you’re trying to get your life organized in various ways.

“Accountability contracts,” such as offered by the web-based service StickK, can help to nudge us to stay on the straight and narrow and get things done, even when we least feel like it.
