Sometimes you just need to stock up on the basics at an everyday value price. When I know that I need a few items, I usually skip the big stores that take forever to get in and out of. I look for convenience and price without sacrificing quality. We have a Family Dollar nearby, and they have everything that I need to stock up my bathroom without breaking the budget.
Bathroom Cleaning and Organizing Tips For Busy Homes
Before embarking on a bathroom sparkle session (what I call a cleaning and decluttering!), stock up on essentials so that you can replenish everything that you need. While shopping at Family Dollar, I found the NEW Scott® ComfortPlus™ Toilet Paper. It is a bath tissue that promises comfort along with thick and plush sheets. It is tested for strength (three times stronger!), and yet still septic safe.
While I don’t use paper towels in the bathroom, I did pick up Scott® Paper Towels to help clean up around the house. They soak up messes FAST!
To prepare your fresh and clean bathroom, start with a plan. I designed this action guide to help you get your bathroom in order starting with the counters, the cabinets and followed up with a deep clean on your bath and shower.
This printable is blank, but I also have a filled out version down below too if you need thought starters for your own decluttering project!
Counters. Clear off everything on the counter except the essentials. The problem for me is that I tend to keep everything loose on the counter. From hair ties to extra rolls of TP, I seem to have a cluttered counter that doesn’t function very well. One of my best tips is to use baskets and mini dishes, like the one below, to help gather all those loose ends. Bobby pins, perfume, earrings. You name it – it goes into a mini dish like this on my counter. My counter is completely clear except for a toothbrush holder, makeup organizer, and a few mini dishes to store those odds and ends.
Cabinets. Don’t delay – declutter these today! The best thing that you can do for your cabinets is to give everything a place. And, if you don’t have cabinets, MAKE more room in your bathroom! One way to do that is with installing your own medicine cabinet or shelving unit. In a previous post in my home section, we installed a crate for extra storage above the toilet. This is where we store our toilet paper and air fresheners.
Bath + shower. Clear everything out of the bathtub and shower. Sometimes those empty shampoo bottles just pile up in there, don’t they? When everything is cleared out, try to keep it clean. You don’t need 100 bottles of lotions inside the shower. Use a caddy to store everything and take what you need into the shower or bathtub when you need to. A decluttered tub will help clear your mind and let you relax!
Here’s the printable filled out in case you need inspiration for your own cleaning journey! Ready to get clean and organized?
