Believe it or not, you CAN spend less than $25 on a night out. We view eating at restaurants as a luxury that we may not have the time or the budget to enjoy, but we were able to stop by Applebee’s and had a challenge. How could we enjoy ourselves for less than $25? I have to say that we MET our budget goal including tip, and we had big portions, delicious entrees, and I was able to take leftovers home for a second meal later. Win, win, win.
When you stop by Applebee’s, you will be eatin’ good. Applebee’s® Neighborhood Grill + Bar has an extensive menu of delicious food at a great value, so there’s something for everyone to love.
Here’s how we kept our budget in check at Applebee’s!
We ordered their special $1 drinks. This month it was a strawberry margarita. While this is a limited time offer, you can always stop by Applebee’s during happy hour or late night depending on your location for specials.
We opted for lunch portions. However, this still provided us with leftovers to take home.
What we ordered
Chicken Caesar salad + French onion soup. This was a refreshing lunch that my husband ordered. It was light and filling – perfect for a mid-day fuel up!
Chicken southwestern salad + chicken tenders with fries. The fries were a nice surprise! I would have been satisfied with the salad and the chicken, but the fries made this lunch option a huge portion that offered leftovers. I actually DREAM of this salad. I love the chimichurri, and it is my most-ordered menu item at Applebee’s.
Our verdict? We tipped over 20% and still came in at $25 and some change.
Sometimes it is nice to take a break from the work day and connect with your spouse over 1 pm $1 cocktails and easy salads. We will be sure to do this again soon.
What do you like to do to break up the busy work week? Do you go on lunch dates?
