It’s the time of year…clothing shopping is here! From colorful prints, comfortable shoes, too much denim, and stylish finds, here are a few tips to organize your child’s closet and what you need to stock up on before the first day of school! If you don’t know where to start, this quick list will help motivate you for a stress-free school year!
How to Prepare Your Child’s Closet for Back to School
Assess what you have. Check clothing that you already own for rips, tears, stains, and fit. Try things on! Make sure that everything that you keep fits and is comfortable. Donate what you can.
Organize your child’s closet and dresser. Hang outerwear, fold tees and jeans. Create a system that is easy to follow week after week once school starts and things get busy.
Invest in a closet organizer or use labeled bins. We have a hanging organizer with 7 slots so we can plan outfits for the week. You can create the same effect with seven plastic bins and labels. Keep it simple and functional.
Replenish your child’s closet. Once you have a tally of what you already own, you can easily figure out what you need to buy. I actually like to shop online to get it out of the way. With many stores offering free shipping (like Gymboree!), it makes it a no-brainer to stock up online. I can easily return things if they don’t fit, but my son is six. So, it’s easy to find things that work well for his height and weight.

- 5 pairs of pants/leggings/skirts.
- 7 pairs of socks.
- 7 pairs of underwear.
- 2 pairs of shoes.

Stock Up at Gymboree
Have you seen Gymboree lately? They have a refreshed brand with a modern sense of style. The pieces are versatile and can be mixed and matched. Styles are comfortable, soft, and great quality. PLUS, they have kids’ jeans that fit well and are durable. You can use this shopping list to help you stock up! They have everything that you need for a successful and stylish school year.
What Makes Us Smile | #MadeYouSmile
The new product line definitely makes us smile. It’s easy to stock up on a budget and have quality pieces that will last throughout the school year. A few of my favorites are the hoodies, the classic tees, and the comfortable cotton shorts. My son is very easy to dress for school…just pair a tee with a pair of shorts. Since we do live in Florida, we very rarely have to dress for the elements. Jackets and sweaters are rarely worn, but we do go through at least two pairs of shoes a school year. These vegan leather sneakers are adorable, and will go with my son’s wardrobe!
Psst…. don’t miss Free shipping Over $50 + Free Returns at Gymboree!
