Spring is here, and we are celebrating! With the clocks having moved forward, I’m grateful for that extra hour of daylight in the evening. The flowers are blooming, fun events are filling up our weekend calendar, and we are cooling off with sweet treats! If you are gearing up for a birthday party or a school celebration, keep reading for a fun idea to share.
For a fun birthday surprise, spring break treat, or just because, you can make a “monster shake.” Some people call them “freakshakes” or you might just want to call it a strawberry parfait, but either way, this is a fun way to beat the heat! I was first introduced to them at a theme park, and I was thrilled at all the possibilities to recreate.
What makes a monster shake special is the garnishes. When I first had one at a restaurant, I was amazed at the variety of special garnishes piled high atop my shake. From candy, chocolates, to even donuts, there is something for everyone. To recreate a kid-friendly version at home, we used fresh fruit and Welch’s Fruit Rolls. You can find a special savings here on this website!
Welch’s Fruit Rolls have fruit as the first ingredient, and they deliver a taste that kids love. We received a six-count box from Welch’s, and they are a lunchbox snack that can be a fun treat at any time of day. Think about serving them at a birthday celebration (easy party favors or snacks!) or in a dessert like this strawberry shake.
With 100% daily value of Vitamin C and 25% daily value of Vitamins A & E, it is a smart choice. You can find them at Walmart or in Publix if you’re located in the southeast like I am.
My son LOVES to “Unroll the Fun” and loves the great taste of these snacks, and he had a lot of fun creating these easy to serve shakes. He likes to “help” in the kitchen, so I encourage him to hit the start button on the blender, filling it up with our ingredients, and adding his own flair to his creations. He likes to add sprinkles to basically everything, but this time, he knew he wanted to try the Welch’s Fruit Rolls as a fun garnish for this drink.
To get started, prepare your frozen fruit mashup shake with frozen strawberries and bananas. You can use strawberry ice cream, but the frozen fruit makes it creamy and ice cold for this Florida family. Plus, I feel better about these ingredients. As a busy mom, we do what we can!
Top with whipped cream and your favorite garnishes. The Welch’s Fruit Rolls are an unexpected topping and a fun surprise for your little ones. By folding the fruit roll back and forth, you will create a crazy cool design on a toothpick. Perfect for adding to your drink. Just serve and enjoy!
A fun shake with an even better garnish!
