If your family is planning a trip to Orlando in the near future, a stay at Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive is a must! It’s the official hotel of I-Drive 360, the city’s newest entertainment district. The hotel is just minutes away from all of the theme parks, world-class golf, and beautiful beaches.
The hotel itself is fun and contemporary. The grounds are covered in colorful, lush gardens; the lobby is elegant and modern.
We stayed in the newly renovated Florida Family Suite, which had bunk beds in addition to a king-sized bed!
The suite had an entirely separate space for kids, in fact. There was even a bean bag chair and a small TV. My son loved having his own little area. The rest of the suite had everything we needed and wanted, plus True Blue Spa products in the spacious bathroom.
With so much to do onsite and nearby, however, we were hardly in our suite! The resort has two outdoor pools and a hot tub; a fitness facility; and it even hosts children’s events regularly. You can take a free shuttle to the theme parks, and can easily walk to the Coca-Cola Orlando Eye, which is visible from the hotel grounds. (It’s the East Coast’s largest observation wheel.) The resort even offers a discount to the Eye to its guests, so check with the front desk if you plan to go.
When it was time to eat, we hit the breakfast buffet at Gatorville, the resort’s poolside bar and grille. They’re literally open all day (from 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 a.m.), so you can get American fare, signature Florida specialties, cocktails, and beer whenever you want.
If the tiki atmosphere isn’t your thing, head inside to the lobby bar, where you can get Starbucks coffee, signature cocktails, craft beer, and light bites. (Another great aspect of being close to our hotel while out and about was being able to return to the property for lunch and nap time.
My son’s past the age of naps, but it was still great to return and wind down away from the crowds for a little bit.)
Being located in the heart of I-Drive 360 really was the best part about our experience. We were able to squeeze more into our vacation than we have in a long time. We took a spin on the Coca-Cola Orlando Eye (which soars 400 feet above International Drive) and saw the “stars” up-close at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. We got to encounter live creatures at Sea Life Orlando Aquarium and take a look at the ones that lived long ago at Skeletons: Museum of Osteology. We did it all without ever needing to hop in the car! Ultimately, our trip was the perfect combination of relaxation and education.
If you’re looking for a hotel in the middle of everything, look no further.
When are you headed to Orlando next? What do you like to do in Florida?
