Hello back to school season! This is one of the best parts of the year since I love a good sale on office supplies. My son is heading off to kindergarten, and I’m scared yet excited. We have been waiting five years for this! ;) In preschool he developed a fondness for Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches, and he grew to LOVE helping me in the kitchen “cooking.” This year, he is old enough to help prepare his own lunch. I’m empowering him to help out in the mornings with his favorite peanut butter and jelly!
How to Create The Perfect Peanut Butter and Jelly
Create a fun sandwich shape. He knows that I mean business when I break out the sandwich cutters. He realizes that it’s a special day when we prepare our sandwiches in advance, so his first day of school is going to feel even more awesome! When he opens his lunchbox for the first time and sees a cute sandwich with all his favorite goodies, I know that he will be reminded of home and feel more confident on his first day.
I bought all my lunchtime supplies at Walmart for a good price. I looked for Jif® Creamy Peanut Butter in a 40oz. tub along with Smucker’s® Strawberry Jam in the 32oz. size. Easy to find and the size will last us a good while before we have to replenish our supplies.
Get your kiddos involved. Like I said before, my son does love to help in the kitchen. It makes him proud to prepare his meals, and I know it will be a key part of our back to school routine. I want him to know that he has responsibilities in the morning to help us out before we head out the door, and that includes locating his lunchbox, helping mom pack his lunch and backpack, and taking ownership of what he has to do. He does like to help, so I know he will be excited!
Power Their Day! His sandwich will help him power through his first day of school effortlessly. And, when he comes home, I know he will feel proud about being a “big boy.” Check out more PB&J inspiration here: jifsmuckerspbj.com
