Last summer I learned that I could prepare my favorite sweets into my favorite cooking utensil: a cast iron skillet! I use my cast iron skillets for breakfast eggs, preparing meats for dinner, and now, to bake my favorite cookies! There is something about a cast iron pan that makes my cooking taste better without a lot of fuss! My latest cast iron creation is a simple peanut butter cookie topped with extra peanut butter and sprinkles!
To prepare for my dessert, I stopped at Walmart to look for my ingredients. I found the new Peter Pan® Simply Ground Peanut Butter which is creamy with a bit of crunch.
The Honey Roast flavor sounded perfect for my cookie recipe, and I loved that there were no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.
You will never have to choose between creamy or crunchy again! The peanut butter was a breeze to mix for my cookie dough, and it smoothed across the warmed cookie effortlessly.
Peanut Butter Skillet Cookie
- 1 cup peanut butter (try Peter Pan Simply Ground)
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 egg
- Sprinkles, optional
- 1 small cast iron skillet
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Combine the peanut butter, white
sugarand egg. Mix until smooth.
- Add 1 tsp of vegetable oil to the bottom of the cast iron to grease it.
- Drop a large spoonful of cookie dough into a cast iron skillet.
- Bake at 350 degrees for six minutes to eight minutes.
- Top with extra peanut butter to “frost,” and add sprinkles as desired.
Once your cookie has baked, you can get creative with your toppings! I imagined this to be a cute way to celebrate a birthday.
A personalized individual sized peanut butter cookie with special birthday sprinkles is just the sweetest idea! Add a birthday candle and get ready to make a wish.
This simple dessert can also be made in double or triple for a party. The wide mouth jar of Simply Ground is perfect to pass around for dipping and snacking too.
