The bathroom is one of my overlooked rooms since I don’t spend too much time in it. I have a vanity in my bedroom where I do my makeup, and I actually do my hair while I’m checking email. Multi-tasking! I recently made it a point to try to declutter as much as possible, and that includes the linen closet, the bathroom cabinets, and all of those toiletries that take up space. A bathroom and vanity shouldn’t be cluttered, and all items should be easy to find! It’s time to ditch the uncontrolled mess and say hello to an organized space. Keep reading for a few ideas to organize your bathroom while re-purposing mason jars!
How to Organize Your Bathroom
Use a magnetic strip. If you’ve ever used a magnetic strip, then you know how handy they can be. You can put anything from your tweezers to your fingernail clippers on the vanity. You can even place magnets on the back of your makeup and place them against the larger magnetic strip on your vanity.
Keep the good items. Vanities and bathroom shelves don’t typically have a lot of room for everything you own. Make a decision now about what you will keep and what you will clear out. You don’t have to get rid of everything, and you can put some items away for later. However, you can’t possibly keep everything in the vanity or on the bathroom counter. Clear space for the items that you truly love and use, and trash products that are expired or have no use.
Get your makeup act together. No, really! It’s time! Is your makeup sprawled all over your bathroom? Now is the time to get your makeup organized. Find an organizer that will fit all of your makeup, or use a fun bag to keep it all together. You’ll be glad you have something to make your makeup nice and pretty!
Repurpose mason jars for simple displays and organizational jars. If you can’t find great organizers for your vanity, take a few mason jars to make it a little more organized. Mason jars are super easy to paint and to use as organizers. You can put makeup brushes in them, cotton swabs, or anything else you want to store!
I use mason jars to store makeup brushes along with hair ties. I never go without a hair tie in this Florida humidity, so it’s essential that I have them easily accessible.
Guests like that the essentials are organized effortlessly on the counter as well since they can easily use what they need. From spare toothbrushes to borrowed hair ties, they have access to toiletries too.
Use an old cake stand. Look for unique ways to organize items on your vanity. A really neat idea for organizing items on your vanity is to use an old cake stand. It works like a charm and adds a level of class to your vanity. If you’re really feeling creative, try using a spice rack to make your vanity even more functional. Or, use a wooden crate to hang on the wall for extra space. Mason jars are easily stackable and can be functional yet pretty on the wall!
Try a utensil organizer. A favorite way to organize your vanity includes using a utensil organizer from the kitchen. You can place the utensil organizer in the drawer of your vanity! Add makeup brushes, mascaras, and even lip glosses to it for easy organization.
Make it pretty. Honestly, when it comes to your vanity, make it as pretty and organized as you want. Everything needs to be put in its rightful place, so you can almost use anything to help achieve that goal. The key is to think about what you need organized and then what you can use to accomplish that. Think outside of the box for organizational ideas and your vanity will get organized in no time and even stay that way. Whatever you choose to use to organize your vanity, think “pretty!”
Your essentials will have even more room once your bathroom has been fully decluttered and more counter space has been revealed.
