The last time I hosted a fondue party was in college. I remember that it wasn’t even my idea, but there was chocolate, cheese, and way too many meats and fruits. While it was a cute idea, it can be messy, expensive, and hard to pull off. However, the idea of sharing melted chocolate with friends at a party is SUCH a good time. A bit of holiday flair and a few fun cookies to dip, and you have an easy dessert that is ready in record time.
I always take advantage of seasonal flavors. Pumpkin in the fall, peppermint in the winter. I can’t help myself! Everything switches to peppermint in my home right around this time. From the hand lotions to the coffee creamers, I never turn down an opportunity to add a minty flavor or scent to my home. When I knew I would be creating a chocolate fondue, I looked for something that would make this dish stand out: dark chocolate and mint chocolate chips!
If you’re not a peppermint fan, you can just use your favorite chocolate chips. Though I do love the creamy taste of melted dark chocolate! The overall flavor worked well with this fondue pairing. Besides chocolate chips, stock up on your favorite cookies to dip. We used Nilla Wafers, Chips Ahoy, and Oreos. Some of the Oreo varieties would be perfect for fondue–especially the cakesters!
Fresh fruit is always a treat when it’s dipped in chocolate, so try raspberries, strawberries, and pineapple. Have you ever had a mint chocolate raspberry?
I have, and it was amazing! Keep reading for the full recipe and details to make this on your own!
Set out a platter with a bowl of melted mint chocolate and your fruit and cookie pairings. Guests can easily serve themselves. You could have melted chocolate in mini bowls so everyone has their own, or you can share with platter display such as this one.
A cookie party is perfect for the holidays. Whether you host a cookie swap or need an easy dessert, this “fun”due is affordable.
As if an Oreo could get any better…add chocolate!
