After a very long day of driving and watching people on Friday, Saturday was nice to sleep in… though I think I managed to only sleep in until about 8am! Usually the dogs have me awake long before that — so I’ll take it. Jen & I went to Walgreen’s for some essentials and saw that the Gay Pride Street Festival was being set up. Yes, this was Gay Pride weekend in Key West but it didn’t seem very busy or crazy? Maybe we just weren’t in the right spots.
After walking up Duval at 9am (and, yes, it was already humid and HOT this early in the morning), we stopped in for donuts at this cute place called…what else… Glazed Donuts. It was right next to our B&B and we could smell the donuts from the street. You could see them making them in the window… YUM!
After a morning nap (how glorious!), we headed out to Caroline’s Cafe for lunch.
Both Jen & I had visited this place on previous trips before and knew we had to make this a MUST DO. It’s on Duval and has picnic tables shaded by trees…and some pretty amazing food. I’ve been here twice now and I’ve gotten the same thing each time–the shrimp & bacon club. Holy delicious. A giant sandwich and fries for under $10 in Key West… I’ll take it.
We shopped, crashed a pool, and then got ready for the wedding party! It was surely a jam packed day.
The wedding party was at a restaurant in Bahama Village called The Colombian Grace. It is a cute two story building and we were lucky enough to have the entire top floor. Our seats were outside on the patio and inside had all the fun stuff–guestbook, cake, bar, etc. If you are planning a Key West wedding, consider renting a room at a restaurant. The vibe was low-key, but the food was high-quality!
Overall, it was a great party. The restaurant seemed to be accommodating and it was nice to have our own private area!
After we wrapped up at this restaurant, we headed to Duval again! This time, we stopped at Rick’s. We went to an upstairs club that was playing some good old school booty music. Everyone enjoyed $10 fish bowls and I enjoyed the show! We had disposable cameras that the bride gave us in her Out of Town Bags so we spent the night trying to use those up…so no digitals of this night! 😉
