Hooray for late sunsets and bubbly! Summer date nights are my favorite, even in Florida where the weather feels like 100 most days. With a little planning, you can have a fun summer date night picnic during the evening hours. Upgrade your happy hour with these ideas for a date night with Gloria Ferrer Wine.
A romantic picnic for two can feature a few special touches that will make your night memorable. The first step is to pick a great location. The view is important but it is also nice to find a park that is open later than 6 PM and has a lot of clean grass to make your picnic party begin. Create a romantic mood with a cozy blanket and maybe a pillow or two for back support.
Summer Date Night Ideas: Host a Picnic
Celebrate your date night with a bit of bubbly. I was pretty excited to try Gloria Ferrer NV Blanc de Blanc and NV Brut Rosé (new!) since you can never go wrong with a bit of sparkling wine!
Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards is Carneros’ original sparkling wine house, owned and founded by the Ferrer family of Spain. It was named for José Ferrer’s wife, Gloria, the winery opened in 1986 in the breezy, now-famous region in southernmost Sonoma County. Fun fact: Gloria Ferrer is not only the first sparkling wine house in Sonoma Carneros, but also the first to bring back clones from France to plant their vineyard! Cool, right?!
The pairing is the perfect summer drink, and it is the BEST to bring for a picnic date night. Pop the cork and enjoy. I was not surprised to learn that Gloria Ferrer wines have earned over 500 gold medals and 50 90+ scores in the last 5 years.
Light a candle. If you’re in an area that allows candles (definitely not us in Florida right now since we are experiencing a drought!), go for it!
Use real plates and silverware if possible. It upgrades the atmosphere and makes it easy to eat and enjoy your food.
Play summer tunes. Create a playlist on Spotify or use one of their already created summer playlists.
Serve a simple snack. Wine and cheese is a good fit, and so are artichoke hearts! These are my husband’s favorite, and I created a simple dip to share.
- 1 jar of artichoke hearts
- 1/2 cup mayo
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- Cheese, salt, and pepper
- This is the kind of recipe where you mix it up until you LOVE it!
- Use a few pieces of artichoke hearts and combine in a small bowl with mayo, sour cream, and lots of cheese. I also added a splash of lime juice!
Don’t forget the crackers!
The most important elements to any romantic picnic are the two people. When you spend a memorable day together, sharing the best of times with good food, you can’t help but feel the romance. The rest of the ingredients are just to enhance the sharing. It’s all up to you. Take time to put together a romantic picnic for two, and let the rest take care of itself.
