4th of July Cocktails You Need to Try
Independence Day is a very important holiday for Americans. It’s a day to celebrate all the freedoms that the US offers that you can’t get from other countries. There is nothing better than celebrating the special day with loved around a grill and then lighting off ceremonial fireworks. Whether you are having a large party or just a small gathering with family, some fun 4th of July cocktails will make it even better. Here are some recipes that you can try.
A Born Free is a delicious red, white, and blue drink. To make this, you will need:
- 1.5 oz Absolut vodka
- 1 oz watermelon schnapps
- ½ oz cranberry juice
- ½ oz lemon juice
- ½ oz blue curacao
- ½ oz simple syrup
- Soda water
Simple syrup is just equal parts hot water and sugar. Mix the sugar in the hot water until it is dissolved and then cool. To make the drink, pour the cranberry juice and watermelon schnapps in a tall glass over ice. This creates the red layer on the bottom. Next, slowly pour in the lemon, simple syrup, and vodka, which will create the white layer in the middle. Do it carefully so you don’t mix and end up with a pink drink. Next, slowly and carefully add blue curacao to make the blue layer on top, and then gently add a little soda on top.
Red, White, and Blue Sangria
This next 4th of July drink is fruity and delicious. You don’t need to get fancy because it’s best served in a mason jar. Sangria is made when berries are soaked in liquor for long periods of time, and the berries soak up the alcohol. Some people just add the berries immediately, but it’s best if you soak the berries for several hours first. For best results, make the drinks in a pitcher before bed and put it in the fridge overnight. This drink is comprised of:
- 2 cups strawberries
- 2 cups blueberries
- ½ cup lemon juice
- 1 cup triple sec
- 1 bottle of wine
- Club soda
Add halved strawberries and blueberries to a pitcher. Pour in the lemon juice, triple sec, and a bottle of wine. Top with some club soda and let it sit overnight. The next day, simply pour the drinks into mason jars and serve.
Independent Snow Cones
These snow cones are 4th of July cocktails that will cool you off and give you a buzz while you enjoy the festivities. These “drinks” consist of putting shaved ice in a short tumbler and putting red syrup on one side of the ice and blue syrup on the other. Here are the ingredients for the syrups:
- 1 cup diced strawberries
- ¼ cup white rum
- ¼ cup blue curacao
- 1 lime- juiced
This will give you enough syrup to make 12 drinks. To turn the liquid into syrup you need to boil ½ cup of water and 1 cup of sugar on the stove in a saucepan. Once it boils and the sugar dissolves, reduce to a simmer and cook for two minutes. This makes a simple syrup. For the red syrup, put the diced strawberries into a bowl and pour half of the hot simple syrup over them. Let it sit for about an hour, and then puree in a blender with the white rum. To make the blue syrup, just combine the rest of the simple syrup with blue curacao and lime juice. Chill both syrups in the fridge until they’re cold. To make the ice easy to eat, put ice cubes in a blender to make it as shaved and slushy as possible. Put the ice chips in cups and then squirt the syrups over the ice so it’s half red and half blue. If the red isn’t intense enough, add a drop of red food coloring to the syrup.
The All-American Jar is a delicious strawberry daiquiri that’s dressed up for the 4th of July. You need:
- 2.25 oz white tequila or vodka
- .25 oz triple sec
- .25 oz coconut rum
- .25 oz pineapple juice
- 1 cup strawberry daiquiri mix
- 1 cup Piña Colada Mix
In a blender, mix everything except the daiquiri mix. Pour half of the mix into a glass and then put the daiquiri mix into the blender with the other half. Blend until mixed and then pour the daiquiri into a mason jar. Next, add the other half of the mix from the separate glass on top of the daiquiri. Top with whipped cream and a drizzle of blue curacao for the red, white and blue effect.
These amazing cocktails are perfect for any 4th of July party. Try out some of these delicious drinks so you can your guests can stay cool and enjoy your day.
