First off, if you are a casual blogger, you might not feel like you need a blog planner. I am here to tell you otherwise! Whether you decide to keep track of your post ideas or deadlines digitally or with pen and paper, it is crucial to start writing down your ideas. I try to post daily, and I wouldn’t be able to keep up with what is due when or what idea should be shared on which day without my blog planner. While I have two systems (one digitally and one blog planner notebook), I do use pen and paper most of the time. The digital version is more of a “backup” in case my blog binder isn’t handy.
So, how did I create my blog planner? I used Mama’s Got It Together printables. I selected the blue style, and it was an instant download.
I use Martha Stewart’s Discbound system from Staples. I purchased a special hole punch, Martha Stewart dividers, and the classic blue Martha Stewart Discbound notebook. I love this system. It is way more fun than a binder!
One great feature with these printables are that they are editable. You can edit the PDF and print it out with your information already filled out. I usually just print them out blank and write out the information, but this option is great for those who want to keep it digitally. I printed out a sample blog calendar for the week so you can see just how it works.
Quite possibly my favorite page in the Blog Planner set is the Monthly Blog Earnings. Before 2014, I didn’t really keep a good record of the sponsorships and opportunities I had participated in. Now that 2014 has started, I am using these printables as a way to document the finances of my blog. While it is not much, it is still something. I advise all of you to start keeping a blog record for tax purposes and just to maintain an accurate budget. My blog money used to be funneled into my everyday checking account, so I didn’t see it. It just went in with all my other money and was spent just as fast. Now that I’m keeping track of everything, I’m able to budget accordingly.
So, that’s just a peek at what I keep in my Martha Stewart notebook. It’s stocked with printables from Mama’s Got It Together. I also have the cleaning planner, the budgeting planner, and the meal plan planner. They are quite handy to have around!
